Walkthrough and Strategy Guide
WARNING: Spoilers ahead! The following text contains information that will ruin surprises, reveal plot twists, and spoil endings. Do not continue unless you have already participated in the testing, or just don't care. You have been warned.
Introduction:
This walkthrough will guide you through the speediest, most efficient way to obtain all unlockables and achievements. If you are looking to unlock a specific achievement or menu item, there is a list at the bottom of the page.
It is suggested you save your game before making a choice so you can revisit and play alternate game choices at a later time. Save your game by right clicking your mouse to open the game menu, then click on a save slot. Right click again to resume your game.
Settings:
After the game boots up, select "Start" from the main menu to start the game, or select "Settings" to set your preferred preferences such as music and effects volume levels. When you are done, click "Return" to return to the main menu.
On your first playthrough, a nudity and foul language notice will appear, (this warning will only appear once, and only if you haven't set filters to block adult content). Adult Content is enabled by default. To filter adult content during gameplay, right click your mouse to open the game menu, click "Settings", and adjust the "Adult Content" settings by deselecting "Allow nudity" and/or "Allow profanity." You can also adjust other game settings at this time. Right click to return to where you left off in the game. You can adjust settings again at any time.
Chapter 1: The Quartz
Once your game begins, press the "Enter" key or right click on your mouse to progress through the story. Soon you will be prompted with your first choice: To "Use battery" or "Wait it out."
Choosing "Use battery" will unlock the "Afraid of the Dark" achievement. However, it would be best to do this after your first playthrough, as you will need your battery to unlock another achievement later in the demo.
After making your selection, continue through the story to the next set of options: "Watch videos," "Log in," and "Pace around the room."
Selecting "Pace around the room" will lead back to the same menu options several times. Always select the pace option to unlock the "Pacemaker" achievement.
After pacing you will be presented with the "Log in" or "Watch videos" option.
If you choose to watch the videos, you can choose from "Watch objectives video" and "Watch orientation video" (and "Watch unlabeled video" if you have received the "Pacemaker" achievement). Watching the unlabeled video unlocks the "Voyeur" Achievement and the image gallery found in the Extras menu. You will have an opportunity to view the videos one last time if you choose to "Log in."
After logging in, you will be prompted to enter a name. Choose a name you would like to be called by the other characters in the game. Neglecting to give a name will result in being called a "Nameless Turd" for the entirety of the current playthrough, subsequent saves.
Choosing the name "Roz," "Ophilia," or any of the other operator characters will bring you to one of 10 endings available in the demo, and will also unlock the "Oopsy-Daisy" achievement. It is suggested you save your progress beforehand. You will have another opportunity to enter these names at the Sapphire station.
After logging in and picking your username, you will have your second opportunity to watch the videos. If you've already seen them, choose "Move on."
The next choice will be to "View reports," "Send report," and "See contact List."
Viewing the reports will give a little more background into the story. choosing to send a report has no effect on gameplay.
The contact list is a list of other GEM stations: "EMERALD," "RUBY," "SAPPHIRE," and "OPAL."
The first time you contact Emerald and Sapphire, there's a unique bit of dialogue before you are sent back to the contact list. This dialogue will not be repeated. If you choose Opal (or Emerald and Sapphire for a second time) you will be notified of a connection error between the Quartz and the aforementioned stations only to be redirected to the contact list.
Choosing Ruby will introduce you to Roz, here the story unfolds further through conversation.
Midway through your conversation you will be given your first opportunity at leaving the bunker. Before making a selection, this would be a good place to save your progress. If you choose to "Open the hatch" The game will soon come to an end, but it will also unlock the "Popped" achievement and the "Extras Menu." After this, the "Extras" menu option should appear in the game menu.
If you choose to stay inside, your conversation with Roz will continue. You will also have a second chance to view one of the reports as well as some new reports from Roz. Soon after, you will have a second opportunity to leave the bunker that doesn't result in a shameful death, but you should choose to stay once again to "tinker with the computer." Doing so is necessary to unlock a future achievement, it also unlocks a few extra scenes at Sapphire.
After tinkering with the computer is another good spot to save your progress. you will have several chances to leave the Quartz or continue to stay until you die in the bunker one of two ways. Either ending unlocks the "Too soon Achievement," but only one will unlock "Scholar's Mate." To obtain that achievement you must choose "This can't be happening," then in the next choice, pick "Only if you tell me what happened to Roz."
After tinkering with the computer (or loading a save, preferably done after tinkering with the computer) you will leave the Quartz and have to decide whether to head north, south, east, or west.
South results in a gun related death, which unlocks the "Popped" achievement, if you haven't already got it. West unlocks the "Inhaler" achievement. You can also get the "Inhaler" achievement by heading east and choosing to "Rest a little longer." Continue to head east until you are presented with the option to follow tire tracks to the left or right. They lead to two different endings, but either one will unlock the "Nom-Noms" achievement as well as the bonus chapter "Famished" found in the Extras menu.
Chapter 2: The Sapphire
Going north takes you to the Sapphire station. When you find the computer, you will be asked to sign in, you must sign in as "Sarah" (case sensitive.) This unlocks the "Imposter" Achievement.
After more story progression, you will have the following options: LOGS, OPAL, DIAMOND, QUARTZ, and LOG OUT.
Choosing "LOGS" simply shows you a report. Contacting Opal gives the same message as when at Quartz. Both will redirect you back to the previous choice list.
Contacting diamond the first time gives you a unique bit of dialogue before you are sent back to the previous choice list. This dialogue will not be repeated if you choose Diamond again.
If you saved your battery at the beginning of the game, and stayed in the Quartz bunker long enough to tinker with the computer, you should be able to contact Roz by choosing "QUARTZ." You will not be returned to the previous choice list, but you unlock the "Unglued" achievement and be taken to the end of the demo.
If you used your battery, or didn't tinker with the computer back at Quartz, you will be unable to contact Roz from Sapphire and be directed back to the previous choice list and will have to choose "LOG OUT" to continue progressing through the game.
Logging out leads to the same end of the demo ending as contacting Roz from the Sapphire, but without all the extra story and achievement opportunities.
If you have collected all the achievements mentioned, you will unlock the "All done!" achievement when you reach any ending's credit sequence, which will also unlock the DoomsDaisy II teaser in the Extras Menu.
